Pobyty<br />w Australii, Afryce Płn., Ameryce Płd., na Bliskim i Dalekim Wschodzie, w Europie, Japonii i USA, były inspiracją do powstania indywidualnych projektów fotograficznych takich jak: „36 x Paryż”, „Rzeczywistość”, “Far West”, „Tokyo”, „N.Y.C. #02”, „Dolina Katmandu”, „Martwa Natura”.<br /><a href="www.wojtekwieteska.com.pl">www.wojtekwieteska.com.pl</a><br /> <a href="www.wojtekwieteska.com.pl"><br />Wojtek Wieteska</a> o projekcie „Stacja Warszawa“:<br />Fotografie do projektu „ Stacja Warszawa“ powstały w ciągu ostatnich dwóch lat. W swoim pierwotnym zamyśle były „zamówione“ jako ilustracje do felietonów Agaty Passent przez samą Autorkę.<br />Inspiracja tekstami wydawała mi się początkowo ułatwieniem w realizacji zdjęć, a tymczasem okazało się, że niełatwo jest nadążyć za wielowątkową wyobraźnią felietonistki często stosującej fabularyzacyjną konwencję. Nie ma też nic trudniejszego niż sfotografowanie rzeczywistości, w której żyje się na co dzień, spojrzeć z dystansem na własne podwórko.<br />Ostateczny kształt fotograficzny projektu złożony jest z kilku wątków stylistycznych. Tak więc są tu fotografie kolorowe i czarno-biale, w różnych formatach : od panoramicznych po kwadrat; oraz wielotematyczne : architektura, martwa natura, zwierzęta, plener miejski, wnętrza i najważniejsze: człowiek czyli Warszawiak. Felietony Agaty Passent skupiają się przede wszystkim na stylu życia mieszkańców Warszawy. W efekcie końcowym to człowiek zdominował cały cykl, bo miasto bez człowieka to tylko scenografia bez ruchu i emocji. Nie interesowały mnie folderowe pejzaże i puste ulice. Nie wszystkie fotografie są bezpośrednią ilustracją tekstu, część z nich tylko luźno inspiruje się nastrojem, miejscem akcji, jedną z postaci czy ironiczną uwagą felietonistki.<br />Na całość projektu składa się 60 fotografii. W Galerii Yours prezentujemy wybór 30 prac. Kilka fotografii w ogóle nie powstało mimo wielokrotnych nalegań (jakże przyjemnych) Autorki np. : korki uliczne czy też wyjątkowo mroźne świty nad Wisłą. W zamian zaproponowałem m.in. misia w zoo i raut w ambasadzie chińskiej…<br />Ostatecznie też tematu Warszawy nie uważam w swojej twórczości za zamknięty – raz zaszczepiona inspiracja Szanownej Pani Redaktor wydaje się być niewyczerpanym źródłem nowych, codziennych obserwacji fotograficznych naszej stolicy.<br /><br />Agata Passent<br />Dziennikarka, felietonistka, autorka książek. Jedna z najbardziej popularnych felietonistek swojego pokolenia.<br />Jej prace charakteryzuje ironia i dowcip, lekkie i cięte pióro. Zajmuje się tematyką z gatunku lifestyle, stroni<br />od polityki. Ma swój stały felieton w miesięczniku Twój Styl (od 1997 roku). Współpracowała m.in. z Radiem Pin, magazynem City, TVP1. Obecnie również z portalem Onet.pl.<br />Autorka książek: „Jest fantastycznie“, „Pałac wiecznie żywy“, „Miastówka“ (felietony o Warszawie),<br />„Olbiński i opera“.<br />Jest absolwentką Uniwersytetu w Harvardzie i Uniwersytetu Warszawskiego.<br />Od 2002 roku fundatorka i prezes Fundacji Okularnicy im. Felietony skupiają się na codziennym życiu Warszawiaków i utrzymane są w charaterystycznym dla Agaty Passent humorystycznym i ironicznym stylu. Autorka stara się spojrzeć na własne miasto z dystansem, być turystką we własnym mieście. „Nie jestem historykiem, więc gdy zaproponowano mi felietony o Warszawie, wiedziałam, że nie mogę udawać varsavianistki. O Warszawie, czyli o czym—zadawałam sobie to pytanie na przestrzeni tych dwóch lat? Jak opisać miasto, które tyle razy odradzało się na nowo, miasto które nie ma jeszcze wyraźnej tożsamości, miasto przejezdne, miasto bez centrum. Skupiłam się na sprawach pozornie zwykłych, na tym jak codziennie przeciętny mieszkaniec stolicy walczy o przetrwanie w tej miejskiej dżungli.“ Współczesne radio nie toleruje długich wypowiedzi, króluje muzyka, felietony Passent mają zatem lakoniczną formę. „Dyrektor radia PIN, pan Emil Marat, beształ mnie za każdym razem gdy przekroczyłam limit 3 minut na antenie.“<br /><br />Wybór felietonów złoży się na książkę, która ukaże się nakładem wydawnictwa Nowy Świat w lutym 2007 roku.<br />Wydawnictwo to ilustrowane będzie fotografiami Wojtka Wieteski. Autorka starała się uchwycić coś z ducha współczesnej Warszawy w słowach, a Wojtek Wieteska „polował“ na Warszawę obiektywem. „Warszawę tak trudno nazwać, trudno złapać, to miasto kadruje się niełatwo. Chciałam, żeby dopełnieniem mych wątłych słów był obraz. Zwróciłam się z propozycją współpracy do Wojtka Wieteski, bo w jego fotografiach znajduję elementy bardzo mi bliskie. Ironię, ale i sentymentalizm. Pod płaszczykiem humoru i sztucznego blichtru staramy się przemycić odrobinę melancholii, smutku. We współczesnej fotografii coraz więcej jest sztuczek technicznych, stylizacji, reklamowego upiększania. W Łodzi w kinie Pokój zastali kaplicę, w Legionowie zamiast Mazowsza zobaczyli apartamentowiec, a w Szczytnie tylko dziurę w ziemi.<br /><br />Pomysł na uwiecznienie na fotografiach tradycyjnych kin zrodził się w podróży po Podlasiu. - W Drohiczynie i Siemiatyczach budynki po kinach były w opłakanym stanie. Zapaliła nam się lampka, że trzeba się śpieszyć, bo za chwilę nie pozostanie po nich nawet ślad - opowiada Bartek Nowakowski.<br /><br />Bartek to warszawiak. Jako dziecko oglądał "Reksia" i "Colargola" w Stolicy (dziś jest to Iluzjon Filmoteki Narodowej). Razem z pochodzącą z Łodzi żoną Ewą Cieniak (pierwszy film, jaki pamięta, to radziecki "Diabeł morski" w kinie Iwanowo) od dwóch lat wolne dni i urlopy wykorzystywali na szukanie starych kin rozsianych po Polsce. Sfotografowali 400. Ewa: - Byliśmy w każdym miasteczku, które podejrzewaliśmy o to, że mogło w nim przed laty istnieć kino.<br /><br />Kilkanaście kin, którym zrobili zdjęcia, już nie istnieje. W Olsztynie w miejscu, gdzie stał Kopernik, dziś jest apartamentowiec, w Gorzowie Śląskim i w Namysłowie zamiast kin są hotele, a Bajka w podwarszawskich Błoniach to już pusty plac. - Nie zdążyliśmy przed zburzeniem kina w Szczecinku, a w Szczytnie zobaczyliśmy już tylko dziurę w ziemi. Na szczęście są przykłady kin, które wciąż mają się dobrze. Orzeł w Toruniu, kina w Praszce, Ińsku, Zwierzyńcu.<br /><br />Ewa i Bartek rozmawiali z dawnymi widzami i nielicznymi już czynnymi kinooperatorami. Bartek: - Ludzie widzieli, jak robimy zdjęcia, i sami przychodzili, żeby opowiadać anegdoty. Śmieszne, wzruszające, czasem banalne. Ale oni zapamiętali swoją pierwszą wizytę w kinie do końca życia. Największe wrażenie zrobiła na nas wizyta w Środzie Śląskiej. Tamtejsze kino Carmen to była świątynia sztuki.<br /><br />Część fotografii umieścili na stronie internetowej <a href="http://www.tubylokino.pl/">www.tubylokino.pl</a>. I poprosili o przysyłanie wspomnień. Bartek: - Jednemu internaucie udało się nas zaskoczyć. Projekt ma na celu promocję polskiej fotografii za granicą poprzez umożliwienie międzynarodowemu gronu kuratorów zapoznania się z pracami najlepszych polskich fotografików. Specjaliści, zaproszeni do Łodzi przez <a href="http://www.iam.pl/pl/site/aktualnosci/katalogi_photopoland">IAM</a> i <a href="http://www.few.pl/">Fundację Edukacji Wizualnej</a>, poznali 15 wyselekcjonowanych, najciekawszych portfolio. Coming from the long-established tradition of landscape art, his is an idiosyncratic representation of architecture and landscape. His photographs of cityscapes, residential buildings and factories seem to deny the presence of the artist and to ask viewers to form their own conclusions about relationships between structures, and between structures and landscape. Stripping bare the urban context of any human activity, his work transcends mere instances and seeks to reveal the very essence of 'place' and of our relationship with it.<br /><br />Basilico is one of the best-known 'documentary' photographers in Europe. He eschews the traditional picturesque forms of landscape imagery to turn his attention the city and the industralized landscape photographed in black and white, with a precision and clarity that is almost alarming. An architect by training, Gabriele Basilico's camera imposes discipline on the buildings on which it focuses - he banishes human life to reveal the life of the building itself.<br /><br />Basilico travels extensively and in-depth, often working with government bodies to catalogue the appearance of the urban landscape for posterity. He travelled to Berlin in 1990, where he documented the gradual demolition of the Berlin Wall. In 1991 he worked in Beirut, capturing the life and remnants of a city after years of war had taken its toll. Each instance of his work is a unique pictorial record of a particular point in time. He avoids romanticism yet manages to reveal the underlying rhythm and life of the modern urban environment.<br /><br />About the author<br /><br />Francesco Bonami is currently the Manilow Senior Curator at the Chicago Museum of Contemporary Art, and has recently been a member of the Advisory Board of the 2004 Carnegie International and a curator of the 50th Venice Biennale (1993). He is most famous for his evocative color photography, which has captured stories of human experience that, in the finest documentary tradition, transcend boundaries of language and culture.<br /><br />His career was launched when he crossed the Pakistan border into rebel-controlled Afghanistan - just before the Russian invasion - to take the first pictures of the conflict. Since then many of McCurry's images have become modern icons. A high point of his career was the rediscovery of an unidentified Afghan refugee girl, which many have described as the most recognizable photograph in the world today.<br /><br />His coverage won him the Robert Capa Gold Medal for Best Photographic Reporting from Abroad, an award dedicated to photographers exhibiting exceptional courage and enterprise. McCurry has covered many areas of international and civil conflict, including the Iran-Iraq war, Beirut and the Gulf War. His travels have also taken him to southeast Asia and the spiritual temples of Angkor Wat and Cambodia, made known to many through his memorable images for National Geographic magazine.<br /><br />A member of the prestigious international photo agency Magnum since 1986, he is the recipient of numerous awards including Magazine Photographer of the Year, awarded by the National Press Photographers Association. This was awarded in the same year in which he won an unprecedented four first prizes in the World Press Photo Contest. He has won the Olivier Rebbot Memorial Award twice. This monograph on McCurry follows a chronological order, identifying major themes and examining key works; a beautifully produced, affordable introduction to one of the leading figures in photography today.<br /><br />About the author<br /><br />Anthony Bannon is Director of George Eastman House, the International Museum of Photography and Film in Rochester, New York. Continuing to portray whites on the fringe of South African society, his subjects begin to act.<br /><br />Where previously his pictures, however troubling, fell firmly into the category of documentary photography, his new work moves into the realms of fiction.
